John Callahan
Before the sighting
Career FAA technical analyst.
During the sighting
Supervised FAA technical review of JAL 1628 (Nov 17 1986): radar tapes, voice tapes, crew statements. Personally preserved FAA records after alleged CIA confiscation. Claims (single-source) early 1987 high-level briefing at FAA HQ arranged by FAA Administrator Adm. Donald Engen, attended by 'three CIA, three FBI, three Reagan Scientific Study Team scientists' — Callahan: CIA officials said 'this never happened... sworn to secrecy'.
After the sighting
Public starting 2001 Disclosure Project at National Press Club (May 9 2001, ~30 hrs cumulative testimony across 5 days). Provided videotapes, voice tapes, FAA paper records.
Research notes
Two-tier credibility. Underlying FAA paper trail on JAL 1628 is FULLY AUTHENTIC and is some of the best US civilian-radar UAP evidence on record (Bruce Maccabee + Richard Haines independent analyses). The 'briefed Reagan officials' claim is single-source from Callahan at 2001 Disclosure Project, 15 yrs after alleged briefing, no independent corroboration of attendance lists.
