Narrative

The summer 1952 spike in UFO sightings over Washington D.C. led the CIA's OSI to task A. Ray Gordon's Study Group to review UFO cases (Sep-Dec 1952). The group assessed 90% of reports were explainable; the other 10% 'incredible' but not extraterrestrial or Soviet. The Condon Report later investigated radio broadcaster Frank Edwards' 1966 claim that a USN jet shot down a two-foot disc near Washington that summer and concluded no such incident occurred.
