Narrative

On the night of 27 October 1956 around 2000-2030, six persons reported seeing a luminous object from Crane Village to the northwest at about 30 degrees elevation. The object changed colors (red, blue, yellow), did not give off a steady light, and did not move appreciably. One witness, Capt. C.J. Williams, chief of police, identified it as the planet Mars. Witnesses concluded after investigation that the object was a star or celestial body (most likely Mars) seen under frosty atmospheric conditions.
