Narrative

On 25 November 1956 at 0543Z over Tupelo, Mississippi, civilian observers reported a single object that began round then became crescent-shaped, bright orange on one side and dark on the other, quarter-sized at arm's length. The object started in the south, circled to the west, and disappeared in the northwest, with speed varying from slow to fast to slow over 10 minutes. Observed ground-visual from 20-foot towers with 12x50 binoculars. Twigg and Oak Hill (ADDC) radar coverage did not extend into the area. No determination of identity could be made; cause of sighting unknown. Observers considered very reliable.
