On 29 July 1956 at 0331Z, Mr. and Mrs. M. Sanor of Commerce, Michigan reported a single round yellow object the size of a grapefruit held at arm's length, at high elevation. The 781st AC&W Squadron at Custer AFS, Michigan logged the report. Senior Director 1/Lt Roy L. Richardson believed it to be a balloon, possibly a weather balloon or commercial promotion balloon.
